Governance and Core Badges represent operational responsibility, voting weight in the meritocratic DAO, and strategic oversight within Society Protocol.

🏛️ DAO Governance Power Split

To complete the description of the DAO Governance Power Split for the Society Protocol DAO (the Web3 Outpost), the distribution between the two meritocratic groups is as follows:

  • Core Team (Execution Arm): ~38% of the decision-making power. The core team is responsible for daily execution, research, design, and the development of the Society Protocol codebase.
  • Affiliates & Partners (Strategic Guidance): ~62% of the total voting power. This group, which includes advisors and partner communities, is tasked with guiding the movement’s strategic direction and providing technical, social, and financial support.

The Web4 Instance Distribution

  • Community Sovereignty: Each community that launches its own Web4 Society Protocol instance chooses its own distribution for "Genesis Actor" roles and Energy (the unit of power and value in Web4).
  • Mapping Identities: Communities use the Web3 Outpost as a "sybil-resistant community map" to identify participants based on their accumulated badges (subjective contribution) and SPEC tokens (objective contribution).
  • Energy Allocation: A common "new way" to distribute power in these instances is for the creator to invite participants based on their badges and then allocate Energy based on the amount of SPEC tokens they hold.

SPEC Token Distribution (Stored Contribution)

To support this meritocratic system, the total supply of 10,000,000,000 SPEC tokens—which serve as a record of contribution to the movement—is distributed as follows:

  • ICO: 31% (forming a committed core community)
  • Treasury: 27% (funding future endeavors)
  • Affiliates: 25% (rewarding advisors and partners)
  • Core Team: 7% (aligning interests for developers)
  • Retroactive Rewards: 5% (rewarding "after-the-fact" contributions)
  • Liquidity Providers: 5% (incentivizing SPEC liquidity)

While SPEC holders do not have direct execution authority in the DAO, they can use their tokens to provide feedback on governance decisions or gain access to tiered VIP communication channels .
